Kicking major butt isn’t easy … just ask Jason Statham. Deco sat down with Jason and his co-star Jessica Alba to talk about their new action flick and somehow ended up talking about spicy food … all in a days work. Check it out.
In “Mechanic: Resurrection,” assassin for hire Arthur Bishop reluctantly agrees to three new jobs.
He does it to save a beauty he met in Thailand, who may not be who she seems.
Jessica Alba: “For me, it was really important to make sure that she is resourceful and she’s dynamic and she’s multifaceted. She’s not just a one note damsel in distress, and I think that’s what people want to see.”
In the film, Jessica Alba gets her action on, and told Deco she loved every second of it.
Jessica Alba: “It’s always fun to kind of do something that couldn’t be further from me, but it’s really fun to do.”
She got to do it next to a real action pro — Jason Statham.
Jason Statham: “I’ve always been a good fan of the action movies, so I tend to lean on doing those more than others.”
The 49-year-old actor climbs walls, fights bad guys and looks amazing.
Statham says training in competitive diving and soccer when he was a teen really helped him out.
Jason Statham: “Of course there’s no substitute for that — that does help. Someone who’s had that kind of experience can really draw from that and it gives you confidence to do these stunts and sequences.”
And he has his dad to thank.
Jason Statham: “My dad was a good gymnast, and I used to learn to tumble from an early age, and he was a boxer so he taught me how to throw a punch.”
Thanks to dad, Statham is an international super-star traveling the world. For this film — the cast and crew went to Thailand.
Jason Statham: “The Thai people are very unique. They’re so sweet, they got a real warmth and we made some good friends over there, and it’s a great part of the world to film in.”
Jessica Alba: “Thailand was beautiful. You can’t really ask for a better location to go and shoot for a chunk of time in Thailand, so it really was paradise.”
For Jessica, food played a big part.
Jessica Alba: “It is quite spicy, but I like spicy food so…”
The move “spices up” theaters this Friday.
