Oysters: Sometimes ordering can be so confusing. They have names like Wellfleets, Beach Point, and Spring Creek but what’s what? And while they all may look more or less the same, they sure can taste different. Luckily at the newly opened Izzy’s Fish and Oyster on Miami Beach it’s not just oysters on the menu. But if you’re so inclined to try some the staff at Izzy’s has all the answers to your pressing oyster questions.
Your meal starts with a pencil and paper where you get to pick your favorites or go with the Chef’s selection. Either way you won’t go wrong ($19 for half dozen $36 for dozen) Oysters not your thing? You’ve still got plenty of options. There are traditional New England seafood items like Fish and Chips ($17) and a Maine Lobster Roll ($26) served warm and buttery (that’s the one I recommend!) or prepared cold with lobster mayo. The New England Clam Chowder ($12) with potato leeks and oyster crackers is exceptional. It’s not the thick creamy soup you’ve had but served as more of a creamy broth still packed with chowder flavor. A lighter perfect Miami Beach version of a classic. Fish, pasta, and beef options are also on the menu. But no matter what you order start with the Parker House Rolls ($6) served with honey butter. They are OMG good!
Izzy’s Fish and Oyster may be on Miami Beach but it’s all about New England vibes and flavors at this casual yet sophisticated Sobe eatery.
