(WSVN) - Halloween is almost here. Who knew the biggest spook fest would be at your local sushi joint? Tonight, we’re headed to SoBe to experience the tricks … and the treats!
This Halloween, the streets will be filled with ghouls, ghosts and goblins, but at SUSHISAMBA on Miami Beach, it’ll be sushi and superheroes!
George Strom, SUSHISAMBA Miami Beach: “We’re throwing our usual cosplay party. This is our 10th anniversary, so we do a party indoors till 5 a.m. We do a party outside; we have two bars out there.”
So what is cosplay?
George Strom: “Cosplay is basically people get dressed up, they come in costume.”
Superwoman cosplayer: “Cosplay is costume play. Cosplay is whatever you want it to be.”
For example, if you love Uma Thurman in “Pulp Fiction,” dress up and show off your moves.
“Pulp Fiction” cosplayer: “I watched the movie last night and tried to copy her dance moves.”
From fairies to pharaohs, cosplay is all about fun.
Superwoman cosplayer: “The fans have spoken, and this is who I am.”
“Alice in Wonderland” cosplayer: “Kind of Mad Hatter-meets-Alice.”
Pharaoh cosplayer: “We also have a lot of friends who are cosplayers, and they’re all gonna come out.”
The event features food and drink specials, like the Spider Roll and Bloody Finger. Send a jolt through your system — with a green monster shot.
SUSHISAMBA bartender: “I put Citron vodka in there, fresh lime juice, little bit of blue orange liqueur and Monster. It gives you that citrusy kick, few bubbles of the Monster. It’s perfect.”
With famed New York DJ John Creamer on the decks, you’ll be doing the Monster Mash till dawn.
George Strom: “Last year, I think it was 250,000 people came down Lincoln Road, everyone in costume, very festive. It’s awesome.”
