October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of kicking cancer’s butt, Deco Drive has teamed up with Glam-A-THON.
Glam-A-THON holds two events which raise money for women battling breast cancer — The Strut and Lipstick Lounge. One event has you walking in heels, and at the other, you can buy the heels. Deco headed to the 954 for the kick off event.
Things were glamorous in Dania Beach on Friday.
The Gallery of Amazing Things hosted an amazing event — the Lipstick Lounge.
Tammy Gail: “We are in our 10th year Shireen.”
Shireen Sandoval: “That’s amazing. Happy 10 year anniversary!”
Tammy Gail: “You’ve been with us since the beginning.”
Shireen Sandoval: “But I don’t look a day past 29.”
For a decade, the Lipstick Lounge has been a kick off to another fun event — Glam-A-THON’s Strut.
Maybe you’ve seen Lynn slip on some awesome heels for The Strut, but before the heels comes the party.
Tammy Gail: “The organization fundraiser for breast cancer, and we benefit Broward Heath Foundation, so we thought a chic party would be a cool way to kick-off breast cancer season.”
The Lipstick Lounge was about shopping, celebrating and raising money.
Tammy Gail: “We have the latest, most cutting edge, cool vendors in fashion, beauty, food, drinks — you name it. We’re loaded and the place is hoping there is easier 500, 600 people inside.”
DJ Chris Cruz: “Deco Drive’s Shireen Sandoval!”
Shireen Sandoval: “Thank you, I wish they could do that every night on Deco Drive. You are hired.”
And best of all, I hosted this event aimed at kissing cancer goodbye, by helping those affected by breast cancer.
Tammy Gail: “All of our funding goes to local women and not to research. So it’s important for us to help each other.”
The Lipstick Lounge was like shopping for two good causes — it raised money for Glam-A-THON, and you got cool new things to put in your closet.
This year’s Glam-A-THON Strut is on Oct. 15 at Fort Lauderdale’s Esplanade Park.
