(WSVN) - It’s no surprise for a host to greet you when you check into a hotel. If that host has four legs, a tail and a big, goofy grin, that’s something else. A resort in the 954 has gone to the dogs, and the move has guests howling with delight.

The Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa would like you to meet their newest employee. Say hello to Sandy…

This 6-month-old Labrador retriever is on the job as a host.

Karen Chastain, Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa: “She walks around the resort and she says hello to all of our guests, and she greets everybody very enthusiastically.”

The puppy’s in training to eventually become a service dog. And at Harbor Beach, she has plenty of room to roam.

Karen Chastain: “You just never know what area Sandy will be in. She’ll be found on the boardwalk. She’ll be in the lobby. She also has been known to enjoy a visit to accounting or human resources and all the different departments of our great resort.”

There is one place where you won’t find this little girl.

Karen Chastain: “Well you know, I think the bar might be a little off-limits. She’s not of age yet.”

Wherever Sandy goes, she’s accompanied by her owner. She knows first-hand the effect her dog has on hotel guests.

Pam Cook, Sandy’s owner: “I mean, I was out by the front drive at one point, this person couldn’t even get out of the taxi fast enough to come running up to pet her.”

The pooch provides another perk for visitors; she keeps them connected to their own four-legged family members.

Pam Cook: “They’re away from their animals, they miss their animals, and as soon as they see her, you can see them light up, so excited to see her.”

Being a host isn’t just a one-way street. Sandy gets a lot out her job, too.

Pam Cook: “Sandy’s very lucky. She gets a lot of attention out of it, but here she gets a lot of love and affection and enjoys it every day.”

All the two-legged creatures Sandy comes in contact with, whether they’re hotel guests or co-workers, couldn’t be happier to have her around. It’s only right to give her the last word.

Sandy: “I’m a lucky dog!”
