MIAMI (WSVN) - Gloria and Emilio Estefan continued their annual tradition of giving back on Thanksgiving, serving up food, music and family fun to South Floridians in need.

The music superstars held their 11th annual Estefan Kitchen Thanksgiving Day Feed a Friend event in Miami’s Design District, Thursday afternoon.

“It’s my favorite day of the year because there’s no gift-giving other than the gift of giving yourself to others,” said Gloria Estefan.

“We just want to give back, and I hope the day that we’re not here, my kids continue to do this because it’s a beautiful thing,” said Emilio Estefan.

Over the past 10 years, the annual event has shared a Thanksgiving feast and holiday cheer with more than 14,000 people.

“I’m just thankful to be here,” said one diner.

“I love that the whole community comes together, and they’re able to share this moment,” said participant Melany Magrone.

This year’s meal was prepared by the Estefan Kitchen and students from the Miami Culinary Institute.

On the menu were traditional Turkey Day dishes, along with Cuban classics.

Among those present for the event and helping serve the food were 7News anchors Belkys Nerey and Lynn Martinez.

“It’s nice to come out here and spend the day giving back,” said Nerey. “We’ve got a lot to be grateful for. I like to come out and give back, even if it’s just for a little while, to be out here.”

“When you give to somebody, the gift is really inside of you,” said Martinez. “It’s really sappy, but it’s so true.”

In addition to a holiday feast, marching bands delighted the crowds. Children had the chance to partake in fun activities, including games, face painting and a chance for a one-on-one with Santa Claus.

“We’ve been very blessed,” said Gloria. “This community’s been so supportive of us during the years, and it’s a way to give back to that community.”

“The main thing is bringing Miami together,” said Emilio.

The event lasted until around 3 p.m.
