Getting ready for Halloween can make someone lose their minds. The costumes, the candy, the parties, it’s a lot to take on.

But one guy’s actually lost his head over the spooky soiree and he’s coming to Hallandale Beach to find a new one. Maybe yours.

The Headless Horseman is the guest of honor at Gulfstream Park’s Halloween party on Oct. 28.

Alex Schreer: “Headless Horseman Halloween is a safe and fun environment without the neighborhood trick or treating.”

Actually, you will see your neighbors at the event, if you can recognize them.

Alex Schreer: “So we’re able to close our streets, bring in everyone in the entire neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods to come in and have a great time all in their costumes.”

And you won’t be able to miss a certain fella on horseback.

Alex Schreer: “The Headless Horseman is really our main event.”

He won’t be hard to find.

Alex Schreer: “The Headless Horseman will come through the village and he’ll make some passes. He’s looking for someone else’s head to replace his that was taken unfairly.”

While he’s searching for a head, you’ll be happily filling up on the sweet stuff.

Alex Schreer: “We have six candy stations, over two thousand pounds of candy. At each of the candy stations, it’s all free.”

Your eyes and ears will be hard at work taking everything in.

Alex Schreer: “We have a lot of lighting, we have a lot of sound, so you’re gonna see a lot of dark lights, bright lights, orange lights and really decorate the park, so it’s really gonna be a nice scene.”

Don’t take your Halloween costume for granted, it could get you a really nice pay day.

Alex Schreer: “We have a thousand dollars up to a thousand in different cash prizes. So we start with the children and we go all the way to the adults so come dressed come ready for a great evil costume contest.”

To really get into the Halloween spirit, make it on over to Gulfstream for their annual happening.

Alex Schreer: “This is the one that people want to come to. It is a scene, it is a place to be seen in your costume.”

Speaking of costumes, the folks at Gulfstream had a question for me and Shireen.

Alex Schreer: “What are you wearing this Halloween and are you coming?”

The Headless Horseman Halloween is open to the public and free to attend.

It runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
