WSVN — As we continue our special Bite series, it’s the Nightteam’s Alex DiPrato making a family favorite for the holidays. That’s what’s cooking tonight as we grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Chef: Alex DiPrato
The Dish: Crescent Cookies

2 sticks butter (room temperature)
1/4 cup sugar (with another 1/2 cup to the side to roll the cookies in later)
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
1/2 cup – 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans (to taste)

Method of Preparation:
– Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

– Cream the butter and sugar well with electric beater until smooth. Add vanilla and blend.

– Mix the flour and salt together, then add to the mixture. Use your hands to work the dough. Add chopped pecans and blend again.

– Take a small amount of the dough and shape each piece into crescents. Put them on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the bottoms of the cookies are golden.  

– Take the cookies off the tray while they’re still warm and carefully roll in additional sugar.

To Plate:
Serve warm or at room temperature.
