The Dish: Cheesy Broccoli
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs. broccoli
2 Tbs. unsalted butter
2 Tbs. flour
2 cups milk
1/2 cup Gruyère cheese
1/2 cup white cheddar
1 Tsp. garlic salt
dash of nutmeg
panko bread crumbs
Method of Preparation:
– Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Steam the broccoli until just tender, then place in a casserole dish.
– In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in the flour until it combines. Add in the milk slowly and continue whisking to avoid clumping. Add the cheeses. Mix until smooth.
– Remove from heat and add salt, pepper and garlic salt. Pour the cheese mixture over the broccoli and stir to coat. Add a layer of Gruyère cheese and sprinkle on panko bread crumbs. Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese on top has melted.
To Plate: Serve as a side dish to your favorite main course meal!
