June isn’t just for brides. It’s also the month summer officially kicks off. And it’s Caribbean Heritage Month too, and it’s celebrating all things tropical, tasty and sexy hot. Deco’s checking out Fort Lauderdale’s weeklong plans to celebrate it starting Sunday.

This is Carib Style Week — a celebration of all things Caribbean — kicking off this weekend on Father’s Day.

These dancers — along with music, food and fashion — are all part of the fun taking place all over Fort Lauderdale, and Deco’s got your sneak peak at the W Fort Lauderdale.

Asa Sealy: “Carib Style Week, basically, is an invasion of Caribbean fashion from the region into South Florida.”

Fashions and accessories, like this slinky jewelry, is by Plum Flower Creations. “The Voice” winner Tessanne Chin is a fan.

And check out this flowy goddess dress, swimwear and sportswear by Chandra Maharaj Designs.

Chandra Maharaj: “My designs are going to be featured at Bikinis & Brunch on Sunday the 26th, right here at the W Hotel. I hope everybody comes out and enjoy it.”

The looks are inspired by her Caribbean roots.

Chandra Maharaj: “I moved to Trinidad when I was 8 from Brazil, and so I was already very tropical, but then when I got to the Caribbean, it’s a little bit different. The energy’s different, the colors are different, the people, the love. I try to convey it as best I can.”

The music and mood are Caribbean carefree … with some events totally free.

Asa Sealy: “One of our free events takes place at Westfield Broward Mall. It’s actually the largest event for the weekend.”

It’s on Saturday the 25th, with a beauty bar, so you can glam up like these dancers in costumes by Euphoria Mas.

Asa Sealy: “It starts at 11 a.m. and runs through 6 p.m. You can expect to get commerce, travel, beauty information from all of our partners.”

This year’s Carnival Rocks the Runway is at Revolution Live.

And Epicurean by Design is hosting a Caribbean food show. Chef Vicky here from A Unique Taste will be judging. And why not indulge? You can work it off later like these ladies.
