Next weekend, we get the latest from Steven Spielberg –a movie called “The BFG.” Deco traveled far to catch up with Steven and yes, we’re on a first name basis. We talked to him and the cast of his film and learned all about the friendliest giant around.

Ruby Barnhill (as Sophie): “What kind of monster are you?”

He’s not like all the other giants out there…

Ruby Barnhill (as Sophie): “Please don’t eat me!”

Mark Rylance (As the BFG): “You think because I’m a giant, that I’m a man-gobbling cannibal.”

He’s the Big Friendly Giant or BFG, for short.

Ruby Barnhill (as Sophie): “Oh my god!”

An orphan named Sophie meets the Big Friendly Giant, and helps him take on his evil brothers.

Deco was at the “BFG” premiere at L.A.’s El Captain Theater, where we met an *actual* friendly giant — of the movies that is — Director Steven Spielberg.

Steven Spielberg: “That’s an honor to be called that. Listen, it would be an honor to be associated to a character with that much compassion and that much humor and that much awkwardness.”

Sure, those are the traits of the Big Friendly Giant, but there’s one quality he desperately needs.

Steven Spielberg: “He’s like the Cowardly Lion. It takes a brave, 4 foot tall, 10 year old girl like Sophie to introduce him to courage, but once he has the courage, they make a great team.”

The giant learns courage, but, what about little Sophie?

Ruby Barnill: “I think the biggest lesson that it teaches is that anyone can do anything because throughout the film, he gets really badly bullied by his brothers, and I think him and Sophie say that, and they also say that anyone can be friends. I think those are the two main things that it teaches.”

As for the rest of the cast- they also learned a thing or two from the film.

Jermaine Clement: “OK, I thought about this, I think it’s both listening to your elders, and respecting your elders, as well as listening and respecting children.”

Bill Hader: “I dunno, it’s just about a friendship and accepting people — I dunno. It’s a real sweet story, I get really cagy ’cause I don’t wanna give too much away.”

At the end of the day — no matter the lesson, this flick is all about the fun.

Penelope Wilton: “Sometimes you want to go to a film and there’s no lesson you want and you want to have a good time and I think you will in this.”

Ruby Barnhill (as Sophie): “I’m going to call you BFG.”
