Shireen cherishes her lazy Sundays, but she cherishes food more. If you’re like her, pay close attention to this next story. That way, you’ll know exactly where to go this Sunday to get some of the best Mexican barbecue in town.

If you enjoy Mexican food and the nice Miami weather, stop by Vagabond on Biscayne and 73rd.

Alex Chang, Vagabond Restaurant & Bar: "Have a little party, really good food, some good music. Just a backyard barbecue."

This Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Vagabond chef Alex Chang and Tequiza chef Steve Santana are getting together for a cookout by the pool.

Alex Chang: "À la carte food sold by the piece. We have about five items and then a bunch of drink specials that correlate with the theme of the party."

Steve Santana: "Stack of tortillas, we’re gonna be cooking a whole goat, with a ‘caja china.’"

The goat is going in blue corn tortillas, made with Steve’s fresh maza.

Steve Santana: "We just ground this today, and we pretty much get it to a Play-Doh texture."

These little tacos are topped with tomatillo salsa made in house. As for what goes well with tacos…

Steve Santana: "Mezcal and Tecate."

Alex Chang: "Mezcal and beer."

Vagabond bartenders are preparing some cocktail specials with Montelobos Mezcal.

Steve Santana: "It’s like a cousin of tequila. It’s made from the same plant, like an agave. The difference is, it’s roasted underground, so when you drink, it’s like a very deep smoky, nice smooth flavor."

This drink is called El Lobo — aka The Wolf. It has chili liquor, mezcal, lime juice, fresh pressed grapefruit juice and honey. Cheers!
