Chris will tell you about this next story after he finishes his text…
If only Chris would stop texting — and get in the moment. Look around himself. Breathe in the air of lights and cameras.
Or better yet — head on over to Baby Jane in Brickell. They’re ready to bribe you to give up your phone while you munch on your lunch.
Notice how attached you are to your cellphone?
Jason Odio: “I found myself using my phone all the time, especially socializing with friends or going out to dinner.”
At Baby Jane in Brickell, every Friday from noon to 4 p.m., leave your cellphone at the door.
Jason Odio: “We kinda had a fun idea of doing unplugged Fridays where if you check in your phone, we give you a basket full of fun.”
The basket is full of goodies.
Jason Odio: “All sorts of fun stuff. We have mini jenga, coloring book, playdoh. We’re switiching it up so every basket every week will be a little different, and we’re coming up with fun new stuff.”
And you get to take your basket with you.
Jason Odio: “The baskets are for you to keep. We kinda want you to take it and keep it as a memory or continue playing with it Friday afternoon.”
Still — leaving your phone can be tough.
Customer: “When it’s away from me, I start to shake.”
So you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.
Go ahead — be anti-social while your friends blow bubbles and de-stress with their coloring books.
Customer: “To be honest, it’s a bit strange. I’m used to having it on me for work and for different people that wanna get in contact, but it’s nice. I’m actually present here with my family and friends and enjoying what I’m eating.”
As for what to eat — try Baby Jane’s lunch special.
Jason Odio: “Wings and salad. We feel it’s a good way to have a light salad also have something fun like wings. It’s easy, quick, tasty and it’s $10.”
Pick the wings you’re craving, and dig in.
Jason Odio: “We have two different versions of chicken wings right now. One is a house made Buffalo sauce, as well as a soy caramel, which is pretty unique, a fan favorite.”
Customer: “These are delicious, both of them are really good.”
Have a drink, get some wings and let your phone take a break from you too.
Jason Odio: “It’s kinda bringing back the roots of actually enjoying the space, enjoying the music, enjoying the company.”
