Want some great-tasting fast food with a decidedly South American slant? The arepa is calling your name at an eatery in the 954, you can chow down on this Venezuelan delight from a number of choices or you can have it your way.

Amaize is open in Davie. The fast, casual restaurant specializes in arepas. If that food is foreign to you, it won’t be for long.

Luis Ginestra: “Arepas are corn meal pockets that you can fill them up with basically anything that you like.”

Did you hear that? Anything you like. That’s one of the things that makes Amaize amazing.

Luis Ginestra: “We have over 200 combinations because we have different choices of chicken, beef, pork, veggies, grilled veggies. We have some vegan plates, our black beans are 100 percent vegan.”

If you’re not in the mood to “CYO” — create your own arepa — the menu’s got you covered…

Specialty items featuring shredded beef, avocado, chicken salad or caramelized blackened roast beef will take care of you just fine.

Everything on the menu is available all the time.

Luis Ginestra: “Here at Amaize, we serve breakfast every day all day, so you can have an egg arepa at night or in the middle of the day, or you can have a beef arepa in the morning or at night.”

The kitchen is in constant arepa-making mode.

These bad boys are popped on the grill and they’re ready to go.

The Cachapa is the arepa’s first cousin. It’s a pancake made from sweet yellow corn, that’s folded over and filled with cheese.

It’s also the foundation for the Cachapa Delight — the perfect way to end your meal.

Luis Ginestra: “We put Nutella on top with some fruit and some whipped cream. That’s a house dessert basically developed by Amaize.”

All arepas and Cachapa are gluten-free — that’s cool…

Whether your roots are planted in South America or South Florida, you’ll dig what they’re putting on the plate at Amaize.

Luis Ginestra: “So I was really happy how they served everything in such a fresh, warm feeling of home.”
