The summer steam is upon us.  This weekend you may notice a “better” breeze by the beaches.   Warm winds will push our way from the east.   Also from the ocean waters, we’ll continue seeing showers pivoting inland… as moisture is drawn in our direction. On Saturday, pockets of rain and storms made a successful push toward land.  In many cases, rain and thunderstorms were being helped along the breeze while holding together (well past coastal areas).   Since we’re getting a decent breeze, the rain activity won’t last very long.  Still, be aware that a sudden downpour could arrive at virtually anytime and send you taking cover!  The weather map hasn’t changed much over our area, this July.   The common thread has involved distant high pressure.  The flow around that high has generally remained east to west.  There’s ample incoming moisture to send more of these rainy periods.  Chances will be slightly higher than normal as the new week begins.  The only “weather wildcard” that could amplify storms could be a weak tropical wave that’s south of Hispaniola.  It’s possible it may jaunt northward a bit and deepen moisture levels by Tuesday or Wednesday.  As of this writing, the wave (itself) is expected to be too far south for direct impacts but residual moisture could creep up on the backside of the boundary.  The best news of all is that nothing over the tropical waters is showing signs of developing into a tropical cyclone.  The hurricane season is still in its beginning stages, but activity has sure cooled off from what we were seeing in the month of June.
