Rain showers and thunderstorms have been cropping up regularly in south Florida. They have largely been a focus during the afternoon and evening hours going back to last week. This wet weather has been stemming from a lingering frontal boundary and also some sea breeze circulations. Tuesday should turn out to be a “transition day” as the front slowly departs and high pressure gradually rebuilds (well north of Florida). One bonus from the changing pattern will be a growing breeze off of the ocean waters. Easterly winds for the middle of the week will make for more comfortable conditions.

Even though our temperatures will stay very warm, the boost in wind speeds will make it seem less steamy (especially near the coast). In turn, any developing showers and storms will be pushed westward during the day. Overnight and early morning showers will still be possible for our coast as the week continues. Looking ahead then, the next weather change may have some bad timing. Heading into Memorial weekend, an area of moisture is forecast to expand over our region. The deeper moisture from the south and east will mean an increase in rain activity (again) with possible storms.
