WASHINGTON D.C. (WSVN) — President Barack Obama will award Miami Dade College President Dr. Eduardo Padron the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a White House ceremony, Tuesday afternoon.

The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The award is the nation’s highest civilian honor. Recipients are chosen by the president for their contributions to change the country for the better.

Padron is being recognized for his work to make college education affordable to people from all walks of life.
