MIAMI (WSVN) - Major League Baseball umpires working Tuesday night’s Miami Marlins game spent the day giving out stuffed animals at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

Kids got to pick their own Build-A-Bear stuffed animal and outfit them in clothes.

One of the umpires. Laz Diaz, is a Miami native.

“Giving these kids a Build-A-Bear, a smile, and give them a moment of being away from the chaos that they are in is very fulfilling to me,” Diaz said.

MLB umpires have hosted 119 children’s hospital events since 2006, handing out more than 10,000 stuffed animals.
