GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) – Giancarlo Stanton homered and the Miami Marlins beat their Single-A farm team in Greensboro 9-6 on Friday.

Stanton hit an opposite-field solo shot in the first inning. In his only season in the South Atlantic League, he set Grasshoppers’ record with 39 home runs in 2008.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia also homered for the Marlins, who led 6-0 in the fourth before taking out most of their starters.

Tom Koehler worked five innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks in his final tuneup.

Koehler is scheduled to start Wednesday in the third game of the season-opening series against Atlanta.

K.J. Woods, the Marlins’ 2013 fourth-round draft choice, homered twice and drove in five runs for Greensboro. He had a two-run shot in the fourth and an an RBI single an inning later off Koehler, then a two-run drive in the ninth.
