(WSVN) - NFL player Antonio Brown, who has been making custom cleats to honor fallen heroes, is continuing his tribute with a pair of custom cleats honoring the late Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, as well as Miami MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, according to TMZ.

TMZ reports that Brown, the wide receiver and punt returner for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will unveil a pair of custom cleats honoring the late Jose Fernandez and Kimbo Slice, this week.

According to the website, Brown wanted to do something special this week, since the Steelers will play his hometown team, the Miami Dolphins, on Sunday.

Corey Pane, a friend who collaborates with Brown, told TMZ, “These are really important to him.”

Twenty-four-year-old Fernandez and two friends were killed in a boating accident off Miami Beach that left his boat overturned on a jetty, near Government Cut and South Pointe Park, early Sept. 25.

The news shook not only the Major League Baseball community but the South Florida community, as well.

A couple of months prior to Fernandez’s death, on June 6, the South Florida community was struck with the news of another sports tragedy — South Florida-raised MMA fighter Kimbo Slice had passed away at the age of 42 in Margate, Florida.

According to his training partner, Tyler Cook, his cause of death was heart failure.
