HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WSVN) – The previously missing Jose Fernandez high school baseball jersey has been returned.

According to WTSP 10 News, Hillsborough County Public Schools said a family saw an envelope Friday that read “Jose’s jersey” leaning against a ticket booth at Fernandez’s former high school.

The family took the envelope to school officials, and the school said they are grateful to have the jersey back. Fernandez led the Alonso Ravens to two state titles and had a 30-3 record in his high school career. He went on to become an All-Star pitcher for the Miami Marlins.

School personnel said the jersey, which was in the dugout, went missing after a candlelight vigil for Fernandez, who died when his boat crashed into a jetty off Miami Beach, early Sunday. Two of his friends also died in the crash.
