NBA action returns to Downtown Miami with a bang, and Heat Nation is ready.

The Miami Heat started off the season with a rousing victory by defeating the Orlando Magic 108-96, Wednesday night, and now they aim to bring their winning ways back home.

Outside the American Airlines Arena, Heat fans are gearing up for Friday night’s home opener against the Charlotte Hornets.

Meanwhile, Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra said the team will surprise many people this season, despite the absence of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Spoelstra said he’s especially looking forward to the fans welcoming their hometown team. “Our guys love playing in front of these fans,” he said. “They love playing at home. We love the energy. It’s a Friday night. There’s nothing else we’d rather be doing.”

Heat player Udonis Haslem said the team is driven to go all the way to the championship. “The day-to-day doesn’t change. You go, play basketball, win games, get to the playoffs, win games in the playoffs, and get to the championship and win the championship,” he said.

Friday’s game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. It is the first of three consecutive home games.
