MIAMI (AP) – The Miami Heat are taking training camp on the road.

The Heat will open practice Sept. 29 at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, about an hour drive north of Miami. The Heat used to hold camp regularly in that region, and FAU hosted Miami’s inaugural preseason game in October 1988.

FAU athletic director Pat Chun said the Heat will help generate exposure for the school, like past visits from the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams have. Chun also says he wants to meet Heat President Pat Riley, "simply because you can make an argument he’s one of the greatest winners in American sports history."

The Heat will practice eight times at FAU through Oct. 3. Miami has held camps in Florida’s Panhandle and the Bahamas in recent years.
