MIAMI (AP) — Former Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez is rejoining them as third base coach for manager Don Mattingly.

The Marlins also announced the hiring Tuesday of former major leaguer Mike Pagliarulo as hitting coach to replace home run king Barry Bonds, who was fired last month after one season.

Gonzalez managed the Florida Marlins in 2007-2010 before being fired by Jeffrey Loria, who is still the team’s owner. Gonzalez managed the Atlanta Braves for six years until he was fired after this season’s 9-28 start.

Gonzalez led the Marlins to winning records in 2008-09, and they haven’t had a winning season since.
