MIAMI (AP) — Donte McGill scored 25 points, Kimar Williams added 10 and Florida International beat Florida Memorial 76-57 in the season opener Friday night.

The Golden Panthers shot 54 percent from the field and had their largest lead at 64-38 with 5:45 to go.

Charlie Nedd-Araujo had four 3-pointers and led Florida Memorial with 22 points. Davon Williams added 12 points and seven boards.

FIU took the lead for good early in the first half, built steadily to a 30-20 edge at the break and kept its lead in double digits throughout the second half.

Florida Memorial was outrebounded 44-28 and struggled from 3-point range, converting on 5 of 24 attempts.
