MIAMI (AP) — Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan will remain on the reserve non-football injury list for the rest of the season, delaying until 2017 his return from a long suspension and knee surgery.

The Dolphins faced a Tuesday deadline to decide whether to activate Jordan this year. The No. 3 overall draft pick in 2013, he returned to practice in late November following surgery and a reinstatement by the NFL following a 15-month suspension for his latest violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

In addition to the suspension, Jordan has been hampered by injuries since being drafted. He has only three sacks in 26 games.
