DAVIE, FLA. (WSVN) - The Davie United Sharks Soccer Club is kicking up a storm in the Sunshine State.

Two talented teams from the club are making their way into the State Championships. “It’s very rewarding, especially 13 is the first age group to play state cup to be the state champions, the first year, going through the process is a wonderful feeling,” said Davie Sharks coach Matthew Parry.

“I’m really proud of my team, I mean, it’s a huge honor just to represent Florida, especially to win the State Cup is a huge accomplishment for all of us,” said Davie Sharks goalkeeper Francesco Montali.

The 13 girls who posted six shots during the tournament did the same in the title game by picking up the 1-nil win. “We’re all so honored to be in this position ’cause we’ve worked hard for the last 10 months so we’re ready to do it,” said Davie Sharks goalkeeper Skylah Klein.

Within minutes, the under 15 boys duplicated the championship feat, taking home the crown with the 2-1 win. “It’s really cool because now it’s two sides of the club that both won,” Montali said. “It’ll be fun ’cause we’re both representing, not just the club, but Florida together.”

Preparing for the state tournament, the teams played up in age, gearing up for title runs. “Matt had us out there four nights a week, every night, but he knew when to push us and when not to,” said Davie Sharks midfielder Adriana Duque.

Davie Sharks forward Andres Sanchez said they have what it takes to win. “Great program, great coach and staff, good practices everyday and that’s what needs to make a champion team,” he said.
