WASHINGTON (WSVN) — The White House has just joined one of the fastest growing social media platforms, Snapchat.

The official White House story will feature a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the administration. "This decentralized approach, in response to the proliferation of social media, aims to provide the American people with a multitude of ways to engage with their government," The White House said in a release.

The announcement was made Monday morning on WhiteHouse.gov.

The White House says they are trying to engage this broad cross-section of the population in new and creative ways.

Over 100 million active users are on Snapchat daily. Over 60 percent of American smartphone users between the ages of 13 and 34 also use the app, according to The White House.
