CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A U.S. senator from New Hampshire says she’s returning a campaign donation from the company that increased the price of an emergency allergy treatment drug from $50 to more than $600 for a two-pack.
The Telegraph in Nashua reports (http://bit.ly/2bQZSgq ) Republican U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte (AY’-aht) sent a letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services saying Mylan, the company that makes the EpiPen, isn’t doing enough to “solve the problem” and hasn’t said why it hiked the price.
Ayotte says Mylan should be investigated.
Mylan donated $1,000 to Ayotte’s campaign for her re-election bid. A representative for Ayotte says the campaign plans to give that money back.
The company has said it will sell a $300 generic version of the drug.
