DES MOINES, Iowa. (WSVN) — A mother was arrested, Monday, after police found her two-year-old son alone in a backyard, sucking on a frozen chicken breast.
According to WHO-TV, 30-year-old Hallie Amick was taken into custody after police received a 911 call from a concerned neighbor about reports of a child being left alone.
Once police arrived to the home at around 10:15 a.m., they discovered Amick’s 2-year-old son alone in the backyard wearing nothing but a soiled diaper and sucking on a frozen chicken breast.
Police said witnesses even saw a small dog try to jump on the little boy to get the chicken breast.
When Amick arrived to the scene, she reportedly lied to officers, but finally admitted to leaving her boy alone “occasionally.”
She was taken into custody shortly after on charges of child endangerment. On Tuesday, she was released from jail on bond.
