LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in the Atlanta suburbs say a good Samaritan was shot and robbed after he stopped to help two women who said they needed assistance.

Police in Gwinnett County say the women flagged him down just west of Lawrenceville on Thursday between noon and 1 p.m. and appeared to be in distress. Authorities say the man was lured behind a town home and confronted by three teen-aged boys, one of whom had a handgun and demanded that he empty his pockets. Police said Friday the 41-year-old victim was then shot three times.

Police say he’s listed as stable at Gwinnett Medical Center and is expected to live.

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

Lawrenceville is about 30 miles northeast of Atlanta.
