WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSVN) – A Miami dance program received an award from First Lady Michelle Obama.

Aileycamp Miami was selected as one of the finalists for the 2016 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program award.

The award is handed out each year by the First Lady, and it honors students and programs that counter bullying through the arts.

Fourteen-year-old Janasia Johnson accepted the award, Tuesday, for her camp. “These kids represent the very best of America, and they remind us who we really are,” said Obama.

Aileycamp Miami is a full scholarship program for underserved Miami-Dade middle school students.

The camp challenges all of its 100 students to better themselves and their communities.
