LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man has been charged with raping a woman less than 12 hours after he had been released from jail nearly a month early.

Los Angeles County jail records show 27-year-old Edgar Alexander Lobos was released just after midnight Monday. At noon in a park the same day, police say Lobos pointed a gun at a woman’s head, forced her into a restroom and sexually assaulted her.

Police say the woman helped them arrest Lobos the next day by describing his distinctive facial tattoos. He’s charged with rape and forcible sodomy, among others.

It’s unclear whether Lobos has an attorney.

He was ordered held on $3 million bond Thursday and has a court appearance set for May 26.

He faces life in prison if convicted of all charges.
