AVON, Ind. (WSVN) — A photo of a teenager working at a fast food restaurant in a neck brace and arm sling has gone viral on social media.

Eighteen-year-old Jakeem Tyler said he had been injured in a car crash. But despite his injuries, Tyler still decided to go to work at Chick-Fil-A in Avon, Indiana.

Cameron Nelson walked into the restaurant and spotted the teen behind the register. He asked him why he wasn’t at home recuperating, to which Tyler responded that he didn’t want to let his fellow workers down by calling out sick. He also said he needed to earn money to buy Christmas presents and donate to feed the homeless.

Nelson said he was inspired by Tyler, and decided to share a photo of the hard-working teen on Facebook. The post quickly went viral, with more than 12,000 likes and 5,000 shares since Dec. 8.

But Nelson didn’t stop there. He created a GoFundMe page to help Tyler out, which has raised nearly $8,000 so far.
