KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (WSVN) — A strange device discovered in Key Biscayne, Tuesday, was actually a flare used by the U.S. Navy.
The device was washed ashore on the beach at Crandon Park. According to officials, someone brought the device from the beach into an office headquaters in Key Biscayne and turned it in to the Miami Police Department.
Officials briefly isolated the area and closed the entrance way to Crandon Park on Crandon Boulevard just across from the tennis center.
The U.S. Coast Guard and police worked together in this case to come to the conclusion.
