(WSVN) - Battling the South Florida heat and humidity is no easy task, but a new procedure could help keep you cool and clean. 7’s Lynn Martinez has our special assignment report: “No Sweat.”

Florida’s beaches and palm trees are beautiful, but when it feels like 100 degrees in the shade, the Florida sun can leave you sweating. Some more than others.

Ashley Blazer, sweat free: “It’s kind of embarrassing to be out in public and you have sweat marks.”

Mark says, he too feels the heat every time he has to give a speech.

Marc Mencher: “If I go to speak in front of an audience, I have buckets under my arms of sweat.”

His sweating was so bad, he found himself having to freshen up in bathrooms.

Marc Mencher: “Powdering my arms, holding my arms up on air conditioning.”

After battling their sweat for years, Marc and Ashley heard of a procedure that would help them beat the South Florida weather with no sweat!

Marc Mencher: “I haven’t used deodorant since I had the procedure.”

Ashley Blazer: “It’s a life-changing thing.”

Both were treated at their doctors office with miraDry.

Dr. Janet Allenby, Allenby Dermatology: “miraDry is a new microwave energy type procedure that is FDA approved. You’re still going to sweat on your body, you’re just not going to sweat in that location.”

Here’s how it works: your armpit is numbed up, and then the device releases energy waves which heat up and destroy sweat and odor glands. It even has a little extra perk.

Dr. Janet Allenby: “The best way to say it is three-in-one –you’re getting rid of sweat, you’re getting rid of odor and you’re getting rid of some of the hair.”

The whole treatment takes about an hour, and most people only need one treatment. Ashley noticed the difference right away.

Ashley Blazer: “I’m just enjoying not ever to have to use deodorant, I don’t really shave anymore and I definitely don’t have any odor.”

The results left Marc speechless.

Marc Mencher: “I’m not doing any compensation anymore for all that sweating. I’m not worried about the clothes I’m wearing, and I’m not worried about sweating in public.”

No sweat, just a happy farewell to a sticky situation.

The treatment costs about $2,000. For now, miraDry is just for underarms, but may be approved to treat sweating hands and feet in the future.
