On Friday nights, some people de-stress by working out at the gym or having drinks at their favorite bar. Others enjoy a shot of the Holy Spirit on their way home. As 7’s Brandon Beyer tells us, at the “Divine Drive-Thru,” you don’t even have to get out of your car to find God.

It’s Friday evening on West Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. As thousands head home after work, prayer warriors from the Christian Life Center get ready for their own rush hour.

Prayer leader: “Father God, we come before Your presence this evening…”

Because on this part of the boulevard, drivers are offered an unexpected detour to the divine.

Prayer leader: “Lord, you know the needs of the motorists that will go by.”

Just take a right at the church for drive-thru prayer.

Prayer team member: “Lord, we come before Your throne of grace right now.”

With cars running and windows down, the prayer team gets busy. They reach out with open hands and hearts for a hotline to heaven.

Pastor Sol Levy, Christian Life Center: “We want to be able to minister to our community here in Broward County, and what better way would there be than to catch people driving home from work?”

Pastor Sol Levy and his team have been praying with drivers here every Friday evening for past four years.

Pastor Sol Levy: “We’ve had at times people come in and basically wanting to commit suicide. Many people are desperate in their needs. They pull in and we pray with them that there is hope.”

From family and financial problems, to medical issues, the team prays for all kinds of needs.

Rochelle Nicholas just moved here from Orlando and is having a tough time adjusting.

Rochelle Nicholas, driver: “It just tugged at my heart. I was literally crying about my situation. I feel much better. I feel in a positive spirit.”

Thomas Genao drives past the church every day from work, but this is the first time he felt compelled to stop.

Thomas Genao, driver: “It’s been a couple of months since I last went to church, so it felt good to have somebody pray for me and my family.”

For two hours, the team is available to pray with drivers no matter their age, race or religion. They line the street with signs, hoping God will steer drivers in their direction.

Louise Harris, prayer team member: “I pray in my heart that God will direct them and let them know to go.”

Chris Horton felt the call.

Chris Horton, driver: “I don’t come home this way ever, so when I saw the signs, I thought it was a sign. I actually passed it and U-turned, came back.”

In just minutes, drivers are on their way, and in this fast-paced world, you can have faith that this divine drive-thru will be here every Friday night, rain or shine.

Driver: “Absolutely I will come back again!”

Prayers don’t stop when you drive away. The team keeps drivers’ names and continues to pray for them in the weeks after their visit.
