WSVN — Busy moms need a place to relax and escape but it’s not easy getting away when you have little ones to take care of. Our makeover maestro shows us how to create a tranquil space any mom would love in your home.

Martin Amado: “Wouldn’t it be nice if your master bedroom resembled that of a 5-star hotel? Well, on today’s ‘Room for Improvement’ we’re helping a homeowner achieve just that. Turning her plain bedroom into a luxurious retreat.”

Christine: “I’m a busy mom, I’ve got four kids, I have newer furniture, but I just can’t put it together.”

Martin Amado: “I see you kind of have hints of a Coastal style. Is that the direction you want to go in?”

Christine: “I’d say Coastal, stylish, glamourous.”

Martin Amado: “Let me get to work and and we’ll surprise you at the end.”

Christine: “Awesome! Thank you!”

Martin Amado: “Alright, so we began the makeover by painting all the walls. Before it was basically white on white walls which gave me no contrast. Now, in this beautiful gray tone, it really warms up the space. Next up, window treatments.”

Martin Amado: “Now let’s work on the furniture layout. Notice on this side of the room we have a chest, we have a hutch and a dresser. Way too many pieces, making it feel really congested. So by placing the dresser on the opposite side of the room, it’s going to balance out the room nicely.”

Martin Amado: “Now I have the room for a chair and ottoman, creating a comfortable seating area for Christine.”

Martin Amado: “We tie in the dark wood with the chair with our brand new lamps. With the mirror we bring the texture and the dark color of the chair over to this side of the room as well.”

Martin Amado: “I bought this already done but it’s a great do-it-yourself project. Go to the beach, get some seashells, hot glue them on to a photo mat, frame it and there you go. Instant artwork.”

Martin Amado: “Now it’s time to finally decorate the bed with pillows, duvets, comforters. You name it, it will be on the bed.”

Martin Amado: “Here we go. Open your eyes.”

Christine: “Wow! It looks awesome. Looks great!”

Martin Amado: “It’s pretty much all your stuff, just with some minor things shifted around.”

Christine: “Yeah! Looks…wow!”

Christine: “Looks totally different but sort of my own. It really looks awesome!”

Martin Amado: “Thanks again Christine for letting us do this for you. To all the viewers at home, we thank you for watching and we’ll see you next time on another ‘Room for Improvement’.”
