SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — A central Florida woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing her 2-year-old daughter.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://goo.gl/xQwqoP) reports that 34-year-old Rachael Fryer was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. She had been scheduled to go on trial for first-degree murder next month.

Investigators say that Tariji Gordon’s body was found in 2014 behind a vacant Crescent City home.

Authorities say Fryer placed the child’s body in a suitcase and buried her in a shallow grave. Fryer told police that the child appeared to die from a breathing disorder, but a medical examiner concluded that she died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Authorities say they also found evidence of long-term child abuse, including teeth marks that dental experts matched to Fryer.
