COOPER CITY, FLA. (WSVN) - Souh Florida Congresswomen Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and former representative Gabrielle Giffords held a news conference, Thursday night, regarding gun violence in the U.S.

The event took place in Cooper City where Giffords spoke passionately about reasonable gun control. Giffords was shot during an event in 2011. “I’ve seen great courage when my life was on the line,” said Giffords. “Now is the time to come together, be responsible. Democrats, Republicans — everyone.”

After the conference, a community meeting was also held. Broward County Sheriff Scott Isreal and senator Rich Nan joined the discussion panel.
