MIAMI (WSVN) - A popular ride-sharing service is partnering up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami to provide a free lift for volunteers.

Uber has set up free uberPOOL rides for volunteers who have to travel back and forth to see their “littles” at the Big Brothers Big Sisters non-profit, Tuesday. The goal is to enable mentors, also known as “bigs” with a way to easily meet with their mentees.

In addition to providing free rides, Uber will donate $5 to the non-profit for any Uber user who enters the code “BBBSMIA” for a one-time use.

The service is expected to attract more people to volunteer with the program, like college students who may not have a car or can easily use public transportation.

BBBS Miami currently serves 7,000 children, volunteers and families yearly, but 1,000 youths are still waiting to be matched with a mentor. If you’d like more information on the volunteer program, go to http://www.bbbsmiami.org.
