MIAMI (WSVN) - Thousands of people came out for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K, Saturday.

The event honored breast cancer survivors before walkers and runners hit the pavement for the five kilometer race.

Participant Damaris Aguiar said it was inspiring to see how the race brought people together for a good cause. “I love how everyone is coming together for a cause,” she said. “It doesn’t matter where you come from or what color you are. We’re here for one thing, and that is to find a cure.”

A race representative said they believe this year’s contributions will exceed last year’s total, which was nearly $2 million.
