SUNRISE, FLA. (WSVN) - Police have arrested a man in connection to the rape and robbery of a 60-year-old woman in Sunrise.
Twenty-five-year-old Anthony Quintal faces a long list of charges, including sexual battery, robbery and drug possession. He is accused of raping and robbing the victim on Monday, at around 6 a.m.
According to investigators, the woman was walking near Northwest 90th Street and 32nd Avenue when she was ambushed. Police say Quintal put her in a choke hold and dragged her into the bushes.
Authorities said the suspect repeatedly punched the victim in the face and raped her as she struggled to free herself. The assailant then fled on foot with her cellphone.
Officials said the victim suffered a fracture near her eye socket and facial injuries from the attack.
