POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - The southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike have reopened at Commercial Boulevard in Pompano Beach after they were closed due to a crash.

Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with the Florida Highway Patrol, responded to the scene, Thursday, where a truck reportedly rolled over, scattering canisters of gas across the roadway. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

The canisters contained various gases including oxygen, argon and acetylene. Firefighters could be seen taking several precautions to ensure their safety as crews worked to remove the canisters,

Cars in the southbound lanes could be seen making U-turns in order to get off on the exit behind them. However, large vehicles like tow trucks and big rigs were slowed down in the process.

Around 6:15 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reopened three lanes.
