SOUTH MIAMI, FLA. (WSVN) - Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was stolen from a family’s home in South Miami, but residents said this isn’t the only house that has been targeted in the neighborhood.

Several residents in this quiet area of South Miami are concerned after a robbery occurred Saturday, and then again, Monday morning, along Southwest 76th Terrace and 57th Avenue.

“It’s a concern that even with impact doors, which I thought were pretty safe, that you can’t leave your house and know that someone can’t break into it,” said Chris Bluntzer, whose home was burglarized.

Several items were taken from inside his home regardless of price. “It was watches, gold, silver jewelry. I mean, they even took costume jewelry,” Bluntzer said. “I think they just grabbed everything, dumped it into a pillowcase.”

The robbers smashed their way into the back door that has hurricane impact glass. “They came, they went nowhere else in the house, they came straight to my closet,” said Bluntzer’s wife, Elena.

A neighbor of the Bluntzers said her house may have also been targeted, Monday morning.

Pamela Hernandez said two suspicious men peered into her windows, but they fled. “And I saw him, and he took off,” Hernandez said. “He took off, the other guy was right next to him. They flew out of the yard.”

Now neighbors are concerned the robbers may come back and break into their homes. “You don’t know if it’s gonna happen again,” Bluntzer said.

South Miami Police told 7News that they are investigating both cases.
