HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - Hollywood Police have taken a man into custody after investigating reports of shots fired outside of an apartment complex in Hollywood, Friday afternoon.

The SWAT team surrounded the Town Colony apartment complex, located along 29th Avenue and Funston Street to take this subject into custody after he barricaded himself in one of the units.

According to police, the situation started as a dispute. Police were first able to get one of the two people involved out of the apartment complex. However, the second person refused to leave. That’s when SWAT was called to the scene.

The SWAT team was finally able to get inside and clear the apartment complex, and that second person was taken into custody by Hollywood Police.

No one was injured.

As a result of this SWAT activity, two nearby schools, McNichol Middle School and Colbert Elementary, were locked down.

Students from McNichol Middle School were set to get out at 2:15 p.m. and Colbert Elementary students were set to get out at 1:45 p.m. They were not released until the lockdowns were lifted just after 4:15 p.m.

Roads were temporarily closed from Wiley Street to Dewey Street. They have since been reopened.
