WILTON MANORS, Fla. (WSVN) — An already injured man lying down in the middle of a roadway in Wilton Manors was run over and killed, early Friday morning, by a driver who fled the scene.

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide detectives, 39-year-old Raymond King was already bloodied and injured when he lay down in the middle of the northbound lane at the intersection of Northeast Sixth Avenue and 27 Court.

Blood evidence collected from the scene suggests that once he laid down, he was run over by a vehicle traveling northbound, at approximately 30 miles per hour.

The impact sent King’s body flying approximately 37 feet in the air and onto a patch of grass. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue pronounced King deceased at 3:12 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain on the scene.
