MIAMI (WSVN) - Next time you receive a phone call from the City of Miami Police Department, beware — scammers are calling Miami residents using a fake Police Station number to commit fraud.
According to The City of Miami Police Department, the department has received numerous complaints from Miami residents who said they received a phone call from a telephone number associated with the police department.
Several residents received calls from a caller stating, “You have a warrant, and in order for you to satisfy it, you need to pay us…”
Miami Police warn residents to not provide any personal or financial information to the caller if you receive a call of this nature. If you receive a call, don’t say a word, hang up, and immediately notify your local law enforcement agency.
Furthermore, the police department does not make phone calls to wanted persons in any case.
