COCONUT GROVE, Fla. (WSVN) – Miami Police set up a perimeter near several Coconut Grove schools in their search for a possible robbery suspect.

The perimeter was set up in the area of Florida Avenue and Brooker Street, west of Douglas Road, Thursday afternoon.

The police perimeter effects Carver Middle School, Carver Elementary School and Frances Tucker Elementary.

Both Carver schools are now going through normal dismissal, as of Thursday, 5 p.m.

7’s Skyforce HD flew over the scene. As of 5 p.m., it appears that officials have begun to lift the lockdown and break down the perimeter in the area.

According to police, the perimeter was set up as they looked for a robbery suspect who was described as wearing a University of Miami sweater. Officials said they found that sweater in a yard in the area.

A K-9 police dog found the clue in the backyard, so police believe that the suspect may have slipped away. Officials believe they know his identity.

Police are conducting a controlled dismissal of all three schools, according to Miami Police.

Children who normally walk home are being held until their parents or carpool pick them up.

The roadblocks that were seen on 37th Avenue are now gone and there is pedestrian and vehicular traffic occurring within the neighborhood.
