MIAMI (WSVN) - One man is dead and two others are recovering from injuries after gunfire erupted overnight in Liberty City.

Surveillance video installed in the area captured the three men responsible for this deadly shooting fleeing the scene.

Investigators taped off the surrounding area, Monday morning, where two bicycles could be seen on the sidewalk, along with at least 50 evidence markers. bullet holes could still be seen at the corner store, Steve Market 2.

The store was closed due to the investigation but has since reopened.

“I just heard some shots, that’s it. Rapid, rapid shots,” said Joe McClure. “I think it’s sad that all this gun violence is going on.”

According to police, three men were hit while standing outside the store. A 23-year-old and a 19-year-old survived the incident. A 22-year-old was not so lucky. The deceased has since been identified by friends as Houston Jarrett.

“We know, at this point, that the victims were approached by a group of individuals on foot when they opened fire striking three victims,” said Miami Police spokesperson, Yelitza Cedano.

One of the surveillance cameras showed a car that pulled up in an alley. Three people exited the vehicle and walked toward the corner store. Moments later, the three men rushed back into the car that was parked by a getaway driver and then took off.

According to a woman on the scene, Jarrett was her ex-boyfriend. “It’s just crazy, like that was my ex-boyfriend,” said Vernesia Avent. “Like, he died over nothing, over no reason. He did nothing. He wasn’t a bad person. Whoever did it, if y’all know whoever did it say something. At the end of the day, he have a 3-year-old daughter. If y’all know something, say something. It’s just heartbreaking. Y’all got to stop the violence one day.”

“He was real nice, the one that died,” said Gloria McClure. “I looked at him like a little son. He hooked up my child’s game. I feel sorry for the family.”
